Purpose
This procedure provides information for your agency staff to ensure that:
- Each vehicle in your fleet group has been assigned to a Fleet group in ETMS to connect them to the ITS system for required reporting metrics
Operational Impact and Metrics
- Vehicle inputs in ETMS is required and enables essential data collection and communications for revenue/ non-revenue service miles and hours for agency needs and NTD reporting requirements
- To enable visibility for public consumption for ridership trip planning needs
- To enable visibility around the digital schedule - comparative analysis needs for improvements
- To record vehicle miles and hours for tracking purposes - EOL- Asset condition

This procedure should be performed:
- When retiring a vehicle no longer in service/EOL
- When purchasing new vehicles (Bus Buys)
- When acquiring vehicles planned for revenue service from other entities
Procedure
This procedure describes the high-level steps involved:
- Login to ETMS
- Navigate to Transit Assets > Vehicles Card or search 'Vehicles' to open the Vehicles screen
- Press 'Add Vehicle' to add the vehicle in ETMS
BASIC INFO
- Enter the Vehicle Id- vehicle number
- Enter the Vehicle Description
- Check the box for 'Active' to enable vehicle data collection
- Assign the Vehicle to a Fleet (use dropdown menu)
- Check the box for Revenue Vehicle
- Check the box for Radio, if equipped
- Enter Date Received- free type/use calendar
- Use dropdown to enter Assignment Group (25ft, 30ft, 35ft, 40ft, etc.), optional field
- Enter Chassis
- Enter Vehicle Tag (optional field)
- Enter Tag Expiration Date (optional field)
SOFTWARE
- Enter MDC ID - Vehicle Id
- Enter Farebox ID, if integrated - Vehicle Id
- Enter MDC IP- optional field
- Use dropdown menu to assign Fleet Group- Fixed, Para, etc.
- Enter Installed Equip Type (sensors, signage)
- Use dropdown menu to classify Vehicle Type
- Press Save
TIP: Check the box to 'Inactive' a vehicle on its card to retire it from the ITS system.
TIP: When swapping equipment, be sure to update serial numbers, Ids, for any changed equipment in vehicle (APC Sensors, Signage, etc.)
