Informational messages do not require a response. The system tracks whether the message was received by the vehicle, but it gathers no further information.
Acknowledgment messages require operators to indicate that they have read the message. The system tracks when the vehicle receives the message, and when the operator acknowledges reading the message.
Other messages can require the operator to respond with a Yes or No. The system tracks when the vehicle received the message, whether the operator has replied, and how the operator replied.
The data messaging feature tracks the messages and responses, which prevents uncertainty about whether the operator received the message.
