NTD Stats by Date

The NTD Stats by Date report provides estimated NTD statistics for any user-selected date range, giving agencies and internal teams a clearer way to analyze NTD data outside of standard monthly reporting periods.

NTD Stats by Date report allows users to:

  • Select any date range (days, weeks, partial months, or multiple months)

  • Generate NTD statistics calculated specifically for that range

  • View all calculated NTD metrics, rather than a limited subset

Behind the scenes, the report is powered by a new stored procedure and temporary data table designed to calculate NTD values at the requested date level, rather than relying solely on pre-aggregated monthly summaries.

One common point of confusion in NTD reporting is why totals from several weekly reports don’t match the totals shown in a monthly NTD report. This difference isn’t the result of missing data or calculation errors. It happens because some NTD metrics, especially Passenger Miles and APTL, are calculated using formulas that rely on the full reporting period. These measures aren’t meant to be added up from smaller time slices like days or weeks, so changing the length of the reporting window naturally changes the result.

The NTD Stats by Date report was created to make this easier to understand and explain. Instead of relying on fixed monthly summaries, it calculates NTD values specifically for the date range the user selects. The results are clearly presented as estimates, helping set the right expectations while still giving meaningful insight into how the data behaves. This makes the report especially useful for customer discussions, internal checks, and early analysis before final NTD numbers are submitted.

Unlike the standard NTD Summary report, NTD Stats by Date does not assume a monthly reporting period. Each time you run the report, the totals are recalculated based on the exact start and end dates you choose. Its purpose is to support analysis, validation, and explanation of NTD data across different time windows, rather than serving as a final, certified NTD report.
