What is a MGR? What does it do?
The modem is installed on each vehicle and provides network access between the IVU, camera system
(if integrated), passenger Wi-Fi capabilities (if configured), and VoIP (if configured). It supports the connection for services to cellular providers and Wi-Fi networks.
The MGR includes 4 Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi, and GPS services:
MGR Operation
The MGR powers on when the CCM receives a +12VDC ignition input and commands the IVU to commence system startup.
SIM Card
The SIM card is located behind the plate in the front of the modem. The plate is held in place by two Philips-head screws.
- Remove the screws, then remove the plate
- Then gently press the SIM card, to release it/ eject the card
- Important: Note the orientation of the SIM card, contacts, and notch in the card. When reinserted the position is important for connectivity.
Connect Modem
Connect all wires and cables to the modem
1. Connect the ethernet cable
2. Connect 2 or 4 Wi-Fi cables
a. Use Wi-Fi posts 1-1 and 1-2
b. If passenger Wi-Fi is used, connect Wi-Fi posts 2-1 and 2-2
3. Connect 2 cellular cables
a. Use WWAN posts 1-1 and 1-2
4. Connect the power wire
Troubleshooting Tips
The MGR hasn’t established connection
- Check the MGR to IVU Communication
- If the IVU is powered on but has no data modem connection, verify the following:
1. Verify the ethernet cable is in good repair
2. Verify the ethernet cable is securely connected to both the cellular modem and port 1 on the IVU
3. Verify the cellular modem is powered on
4. Power cycle the system if the above does not resolve the issue
