Service Bulletin #77 - Microsoft Bing Maps Outage

Originally published on 5/23/2024

This service bulletin applies to agencies utilizing myAvail's map functionality.

What's the issue?

Microsoft Bing's API is down, which is necessary to run Bing Maps. Some of myAvail's mapping solutions rely on Bing maps, so those solutions will not work properly until Microsoft deploys a solution.

Who's affected?

You are affected if you use any of myAvail's mapping solutions, including:

  • Geographic Tools
  • Dispatch

The Bing API outage does not affect:

  • Live Map
  • maps on the MDT (in-vehicle solution)
  • myStop
  • InfoPoint

What do I need to do?

If you are experiencing issues with myAvail's mapping solutions, use the following workarounds until Microsoft deploys a solution:

  • Dispatchers can use myStop and InfoPoint to view vehicle locations
  • If your agency utilizes myAvail version 9.2 or higher, you can use the Live Map

Thank you for your patience. We will update this article until the problem is resolved.
